"Fast And Furious" fans following "Furious 8" cast update were delighted by "San Andreas" actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's confirmation that he will reprise his role Luke Hobbs in the sequel and he may even have a solo film with the character.
When Collider asked him at a recent press conference for the action film "San Andreas" if Luke Hobbs is going to be in the recently announced "Furious 8," Johnson simply answered, "Of course, it can't go on without Hobbs."
In addition, Johnson hinted that he may star in a "Fast And Furious" spin-off with Luke Hobbs as the main character.
"We all are interested in it," Johnson said. "I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see."
Personally, Johnson thinks they have created a little bit of space for Luke Hobbs in "Furious 7" but the possibility for the spin-off still depends on what the audience will want.
"That's my take on it, you know," Johnson added. "But a lot of other people have to have input."
In "San Andreas," Johnson plays Ray opposite Alexandra Daddario as Blake. The film was helmed by Brad Peyton.
Meanwhile, "Furious 7" stars Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris appeared at the recently concluded 2014 Billboard Music Awards to introduce Wiz Khalifa before the Pittsburgh, Pa., rapper performed "See You Again" to honor the late Paul Walker.
While "Furious 7" scenes played in the background, Khalifa was joined by Charlie Puth who sang the chorus and played the piano and violinist Lindsey Stirling, according to New York Daily News.
