‘X-Men:’ Star Michael Fassbender: I Love, Hate Scottish Whisky

"X-Men" star Michael Fassbender has recently revealed that what he loved and hated about Scotland are just one thing, which the country's national drink. The Irish actor filmed the film "Macbeth" in Skye, Scotland.

At the premier of "Macbeth" at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival on May 23, Saturday, Fassbender was asked about the things that provided the highs and lows of his time in Scotland.

"Whisky and whisky," Fassbender replied, Scottish Daily Record quoted him as saying. He said he enjoyed whisky a little too much in Scotland while shooting the film adaptation of the Shakespeare classic, in which he plays the title role.

Directed by Justin Kurzel, 40, "Macbeth" also stars Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth, Sean Harris as Macduff, David Thelis as Duncan, Elizabeth Debicki as Lady Macduff, Jack Reynor as Malcolm, Paddy Considine as Banquo, David Hayman as Lennox and Maurice Roeves as Menteith, among others.

Hailing from Gawler in South Australia, Kurzel has said that he has a strong connection with landscape and space and that strong connection people have with it.

"How, at times, it can be intimidating and dwarf you, " Hurzel explained, Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying. "Go up to Scotland and it is massive. It is a place that will outlive anything. Many Macbeths have died there."

Currently, Fassbender is filming the 2016 sequel "X-Men: Apocalypse," in which he will reprise his role Erik Lensherr. In 2016, he will also star in "Weightless," "Prometheus 2" and "Assassin's Creed."

On Oct. 9, Danny Boyle's "Steve Jobs" will hit theaters featuring Fassbender as the late Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
