Donations amounting to about $ 20,000 was raised for the shepherd mix dog named Sunny, almost a fortnight after an anonymous person spotted her hanging from a tree with a rope tied around her neck. Sunny's medical expenses amounted to just $ 2500 yet her case moved a number of dog lovers who are still sending donations.

This true incident of brutality caught the attention of the media and canine lovers globally which helped to collect donations to finance her treatment. Doctors believe that the canine faced mistreatment for a long time before this brutality. However, in the absence of micro chips on her body, authorities were unable to trace her actual owner.

The Pilma Animal Care Centre in Tucson, Arizona posted regular updates about Sunny's health. According to the Director of Shelter Operations Jose Ocano, Sunny is currently on the path of recovery under the care of a foster parent. He further told The Benchmark Reporter that Sunny is regaining her spirit and possesses the trustworthy look in her eyes signifying the amount of resilience in animals.

The Pilma Centre tends to about 300 cats and 650 dogs daily on its miniscule budget. Ocano further clarified that the donations collected in excess were being used for supporting and sustaining other animals at the center.

The severity of the case led to its viral status not only across the United States but worldwide as well. This helped to collect donations of $ 20,000 as opposed to the actual cost of Sunny's treatment of $ 2500, according to The Reporter Advocate.
