HTC One M8 is the flagship of 2014.

Users of HTC One and Sony Xperia are waiting for the Google's latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. At present, the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 have been updated to the original Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 Android 5.0.2 update is available to customers in Baltic and Nordic regions. The Japanese company Sony has still to release an Xperia Lollipop update in other countries. Hence, Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 users in the United States are still stuck on the earlier Android KitKat firmware.

In April, Sony was certifying Android 5.1 Lollipop on the Xperia Z3 and Z3 compact, according to Phone Arena. Since then, no more information has arrived. Earlier, Sony promised that all devices of Xperia Series will get some form of Android Lollipop. The company has not disclosed the reason for the delay.

The software giant Google was in a partnership with Motorola and HTC during the initial Android 5.0 Lollipop roll out. This partnership enabled both mobile manufacturers to push the original Android 5.0 Lollipop ahead of rivals.

Currently, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is available on HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 devices from T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon, The Gospel Herald reported.

However, the mobile manufacturer HTC has not disclosed when or if the One Series will get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. Rumors are doing the rounds that the company may be holding back for the release of Android 5.1.1.

Users of HTC One M8 who purchased their handsets through Google Play will be entitled to an Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

Meanwhile, Google's Nexus Series will be the first to get the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS. The software company is planning to roll out the latest Android Lollipop to the Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 devices.

Android 5.1.1 allegedly fixes bugs associated with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Customers will need to wait for smartphone manufacturers to distribute the latest update. Soon Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will become available to other manufacturers.
