"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" director Wes Ball recently opened up about the upcoming installment, specifically the film's setting and the events that will take place after the characters successfully escape the maze.

In an interview with MTV News, Ball said that the scenes on "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" will be very much different from the scenes on "Maze Runner." The second installment will feature a lot of dark places and every scene will be about "being scared."

Ball then went on to talk about the filming techniques they used in the film to make it more realistic. He revealed that majority of the time, they just used flashlights as lighting.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Empire Online, Ball teased some spoilers for the upcoming installment.

According to him, "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" will not be very similar to the novel. However, the storyline and scenes will remain truthful to the book, but with some twists.

Ball added that some scenes from book one will be featured in book two and some scenes that will not be included in the second novel will be shown in the third installment.

"The Maze Runner" trilogy author James Dashner seconded Ball's statement and said that some parts of the "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" were not part of the book. However, one thing is for sure and that is the movie will not disappoint fans.

Dashner then went on to praise Ball and his creativity and said that the film will be a hit because of the director's passion and the impressive talent of the cast members.

"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is slated for release in the United States on Sept. 18.
