The Dallas Cowboys added a new asset to their already deep running back roster by signing former Baylor standout Lache Seastrunk this offseason. He joins the quartet of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Ryan Williams, and Lance Dunbar as the team's fifth running back.

To accommodate his acquisition, ESPN reported that the Cowboys let go of undrafted free agent Synjyn Days.

Seastrunk was a sixth round draft pick of the Washington Redskins last year. However, he didn't make the team's final roster even though the 23-year-old showed promise in the preseason, including an 80-yard touchdown carry from a short pass by third-string QB Col McCoy to help the Redskins beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 24-10.

It proved to be the one and only highlight of his NFL career as he never played even a single regular season game so far. He hopes to finally play one this September.

The 5-foot-9, 200-pound Seastrunk spent last year playing for the practice teams of the Carolina Panthers and the Tennessee Titans. He was with the Titans since October of last year but was released last month as a free agent.

Dallas wasted no time in acquiring the Temple, Texas native even though they already have a loaded RB lineup. Head coach Jason Garett and RB coach Gary Brown may have seen some potential on the young man to give his NFL career a last chance.

There are speculations that the Cowboys need him for insurance since McFadden and Williams are still nursing injuries that limited their participation in the team's OTAs.

As per the Cowboys official website, Seastrunk is expected to earn some reps during this week's OTAs up to the team's mandatory minicamp that will be held from June 16 to 18.
