As Best Friends Day approaches Disney princesses may remind people of the positive traits of female best buddies.

June 8 is observed in the United States as National Best Friends Day, an opportune time to show how much a true best friend is appreciated. Disney has churned out films with female characters who may remind people of their best female friends.

In the US, there are other Friendship Days, including National Friendship Day marked every first Sunday of August. This was proclaimed by the US Congress way back in 1935. June 8, though, is when many people prefer to celebrate having a treasured best friend, even if the main purpose and origin are unofficial, World's Special Days reported.

Here are the top-ranked Disney princesses whose dominant traits may mirror your own best female pal.

Belle - Bustle included in its ranking Belle of "Beauty and the Beast," the dutiful daughter and kind-hearted, book-loving female pal. She is the type who will love her friend regardless of appearance or social status. This fairytale has been retold over and over again and was produced by Walt Disney Animation as an animated film in 1991. In March 2017, the live action movie adaptation featuring Emma Watson as Disney princess Belle will be shown in cinemas.

Snow White - Snow White may reflect your beautiful but trusting best friend who may emerge from trying circumstances unhurt. She may lose the keys to her apartment or suffer from an allergy, but manages to overcome whatever comes her way.

Aurora - Aurora is the Disney princess who may mirror a girlfriend whom all the guys would love to date.

Rapunzel - Rapunzel may remind some women of a female best friend who has been locked in an ivory tower, and has a manipulative parent, but who dishes out good advice.

Other Disney princesses have recognizable qualities most girls may find in their best friends. Some people may have a BFF (best friend forever) who is like the selfless and martyr-like Cinderella; the generous princess of the sea Ariel; the tall, attractive and smart Jasmine; the brave and unflinching female warrior Mulan; or the free-spirited and outdoor-oriented Scottish princess Merida from Disney/Pixar's "Brave."

Other new Disney princess whose good qualities women find in their best pals are Sofia the First and Princess Elsa who was crowned Queen of Arendelle in the animated hit movie "Frozen."
