Verizon Releases Android 5.1 Lollipop News for Moto E 2nd Gen, Moto G, Moto X 1st & 2nd Gen; Moto G2 May Not Get Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

Verizon Wireless confirmed that it will be rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for its Moto E 2nd Gen smartphones.

Moto E 2nd Gen is currently running on Android 4.4 KitKat and it will be a major upgrade to the Android 5.1 Lollipop directly. The update will be rolled out in two parts. The first update is a minor update that it is currently being rolled out to the users. On the other hand, the second update is the major update and it is expected to be released next week.

Moto E already got the Android 5.1 Lollipop in numerous regions around the world, including Brazil, according to Master Herald.

Android 5.1 Lollipop features include better stability and performance. It also fixes the numerous security issues to a large extent, according to Gotta Be Mobile. The Quick Settings was completely revamped and they allow better ease of use.  Android 5.1 Lollipop also includes support for the dual SIM facility as an inbuilt feature. It also improves the screen pinning feature by a few notches as it is more clean and efficient now. 

Android Lollipop 5.1 features also include better device protection, which can help to secure the user's device even if it is stolen or lost. The device can not be used even after factory resetting by the thieves. It can only be used if the Google account details are available to the thieves.

On the other hand, Moto G and G2, Moto X 1st and 2nd Gen users have already got the Android Lollipop 5.1 update. It is not clear whether it will get the latest Android 5.1.1 firmware update or not. However, there are rumors claiming that the smartphones will jump directly to the new Android M OS.
