Argentina's Lionel Messi and Chile's Arturo Vidal highlight the Team of the Group Stage in the 2015 Copa America tournament held in Chile.
Barcelona forward Messi, arguably the best footballer player in the world today, leads the pack with a WhoScored rating of 7.99 after the group qualifications, the best in the competitions so far as expected. Vidal, who is the tournament's leading scorer with three goals, has a rating of 7.85, as per Sportskeeda.
Last week, the Juventus midfielder caught unwanted media coverage after he crashed his red Ferrari while driving alcohol intoxicated. Reports said that he blurted out curses as the police tried to handcuff him.
Vidal was arrested, but after issuing a public apology "to all of Chile", a teary-eyed Vidal was released and allowed to continue his participation in the Copa.
Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Argentina captain, who just celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, June 24, was his usual dominating self in the tournament.
However, Gerardo Martino's team has not yet found their rhythm in three games as La Albiceleste managed to score only four goals so far, with one coming from Messi, but their attacks on goal had been impressive.
Rounding out the Best Eleven of the group stage are: Goalkeeper - Claudio Bravo of Chile; Defenders - Thiago Silva of Brazil, José María Giménez of Uruguay, and Gary Medel of Chile; Midfielders - Vidal and Charles Aránguiz of Chile, Carlos Lobatón of Peru, and Carlos Sánchez of Colombia; and Forwards - Messi and Sergio Agüero of Argentina, and Lucas Barrios of Paraguay, via Eurosport.
The Team of the Group Stage is a selection of the best players at their positions following the group elimination phase.
