China has surpassed the 20-billion-yuan mark for total gross of films earlier than last year.

China has surpassed the 20-billion-yuan mark for the total gross of films released in the country on Monday night. This is according to the report posted by China Movie Channel website 1905.com.

The feat was achieved in only 180 days--66 days earlier than it took to reach the same accomplishment in 2014.

In total, China's domestic films gathered a total of 9.3 billion yuan. This comprises 46.5 percent of the combined gross from both local and foreign titles released in the Chinese mainland.

Thirty-nine films have pulled in over 100 million yuan, out of all the films released starting January. The figure is a benchmark that judges whether a film has hit a box-office success. Twenty of these are local films, while 19 are foreign titles.

Meanwhile, experts expect that the total gross of all films in China for 2015 will reach 40 billion yuan, a new record in China's history. This year's pace was much faster, they added, citing that in 2013, it took 342 days to reach the 20-billion mark, while it took 246 days in 2014.

The top three highest grossing Chinese films in 2015 are "The Man from Macao II" (973 million yuan), "Dragon Blade" (743 million yuan), and 'Wolf Totem" (696 million yuan).

However, the top three spots of overall chart this year went to three Hollywood films, namely "Furious 7" (2.4 billion yuan), "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (1.48 billion yuan) and "Jurassic World" (1.26 billion yuan).

"Jurassic World" is expected to take over "Avengers 2" after receiving warm support from Chinese fans in just almost three weeks.
