Speculations abound that Manchester United is arranging a £120 million transfer package to acquire attacking midfielder Thomas Müller from Bayern Munich even as their last summer's bid to snatch the Germany international went fruitless, as per The Guardian.

The 25-year-old World Cup champion is one of the most sought-after players in the world today as he is coming off another successful season both in club and international play.

Bleacher Report describes him as the "complete modern footballer," being effective in setting up a high-percentage shot for his teammates or scoring the goal himself. In his current seven-year career at Bundesliga, he had managed to accumulate 121 goals in 304 caps.

Most of the time, he plays center midfielder for The Bavarians in the 4-2-3-1 setup while a right wing midfielder for Germany in the same formation. He calls himself "raumdeuter," which means "interpreter of space" in German, referring to his penchant for finding gaps on the pitch instead of dribbling or creating one-on-one situations like Argentina's Lionel Messi.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal, who was a former Bayern manager, had long been enamored of Müller's skills and was said to have prepared a new deal to the Munich club covering a £50 million transfer fee and £70 million salary for the prized player.

However, the Mirror reported that Bayern chief Karl Hopfner and manager Pep Guardiola had rejected the offer and is firm on keeping the German sensation.

Meanwhile, it is also reported that Müller was honored about van Gaal's apparent interest but said that he wants to stay put at the Allianz for now.
