Manchester United's Nani

Süper Lig giant Fenerbahçe SK signed Manchester United winger Nani to a three-year, £4.25 million contract on Monday, as per BBC Sport.

The Portugal international spent last season on loan with Sporting CP, his old Portuguese team before moving to Manchester in 2007. The 28-year-old agreed to a five-year deal with United in 2013, but following only two years of declining performance his transfer to the Istanbul club was approved by Dutch manager Louis van Gaal.

Nani scored 40 goals in 230 caps for the Red Devils during a span of eight years. The last two seasons were especially dismal at 3 of 21 in 2012-2013 and 1 of 13 in 2013-2014, which noticeably are not so impressive numbers. This poor showing allegedly translated to his reduced contract with the Yellow Canaries, according to The Guardian.

Even when it appears to come with a lot of risks, Vítor Pereira was reportedly thrilled of their recent transfer deal. Fenerbahce sporting director Guilliano Terraneo himself went to Portugal to finalize the transaction with Nani's agents.

Earlier in his career, the Portuguese sensation was often compared to countryman Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of controlling the ball and giving himself and his teammates open chances at the goal. He was even frequently ranked second to the Real Madrid forward in club plays.

However, as Ronaldo metamorphosed into one of the greatest football players in the world, alongside Argentina's Lionel Messi, Nani was left to decline from his old form. He continued to be a playmaker but had become more of a passer than a goal scorer.

Many analysts believe that this Turkish league restart may be what Nani is hoping for to reinvigorate his abating football career.
