San Diego Comic-Con 2015

San-Diego's Comic-Con opened on July 9 at the San Diego Convention Center with the participation of "X Men", "Star Wars" and "DC heroes". The event still holds the same excitement even in the absence of Disney's Marvel, Paramount and Sony.

Comic- Con is one of the biggest pop-culture gatherings of San Diego. The event started off with the preview, reports USA Today. The event is expected to attract more than 125,000 fans.

The convention, which started off 35 years ago as a comic-book fan gathering, has become a significant occasion and a stage for film promotions by Hollywood studios. From upholding their comic characters, or superheroes, to promoting science-fictions for TV shows and films, the production houses try to embrace the contemporary consumers through different mediums, one of which is the social media.

Speaking of the gathering, executive director of Entertainment Weekly, Sean Smith told the Reuters, "Comic Con is absolutely central to what pop culture has become now because we're living in the age of superheroes."

Friday will be one of the significant days of the event which will witness Disney hosting a preview for its film "The Force Awakens". Followed by Disney's new "Star Wars" film on Friday, Warner Bros will unveil the film "Batman v Batman: Dawn of Justice" on Saturday and which is up for release in March 2016. The Warner Bros film stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavil casted together for the first time.

While the fans are expecting the preview of the movie "Suicide Squad" starring Will Smith and Jared Leto, due for release in 2016 summers, the appearance of the cast from Ryan Reynolds starrer "Deadpool" and "X-Men: Apocalypse" by 20th Century Fox slated for release in February 2016 and May 2016, respectively.

Smith says that it is eventually decided by the studios whether they would be attending the Comic-Con convention and hence, they need to bring the best along. He added saying that it may end up being an expensive affair for the studios in case the attempt fails to attract the audience.
