Kylie Jenner's Cornrow Look Triggers Online Racial Debate

Mega star Justin Bieber recently took to Instagram to defend his close friend, Kylie Jenner, after she was slammed by "The Hunger Games" actress, Amandla Stenberg, for wearing her hair in cornrows.

"Guys leave her alone, were all trying to figure it out and she happens to be under a microscope! I'm the first to know this," wrote the "Baby" hit maker in the comment section of the controversial pic, which the 17-year-old uploaded to her account on July 12 showing off her hair in cornrows,

E! News reported. Bieber is known to be close to Kardashian family and is often linked romantically with Kendall Jenner.

Kylie's pic with her hair in cornrows had triggered an online racial debate, which was further fuelled when the 16-year-old actress accused her of "appropriating black culture" without using her celebrity status "to help black Americans."

The pic was also tagged with the hashtag, #whitegirlsdoitbetter, which further complicated the matter. While Kylie, who is known for experimenting with her hairstyle, dissed back at the teen actress, the online community seemed to be divided over the issue of the portrayal of the apparent black culture by white people, Daily Mail reported.

Stenberg further addressed the issue by posting a piece she wrote about the double standards faced by black women on her Twitter account on July 13.

"Black features are beautiful. Black women are not," a part of Stenberg's post reads.  She again tweeted recently that she is not angry, she just have a strong opinion.

On the other hand, Kylie has neither responded to Stenberg's post yet nor has taken down the cornrows picture that has now garnered 1.3 million likes and more than 131,000 comments.
