Months before "Agent Carter" season 2 premieres in January 2016 on ABC, Hayley Atwell addressed a fan theory that Peggy Carter is the real mother of Iron Man/Tony Stark, a character played by Robert Downey Jr. in several movies.
In an interview with Hey U Guys, Atwell said the fan theory does not appear to be true to her "Agent Carter" character. She said it would undermine the relationship Peggy Carter has with Captain America, played by Chris Evans is several movies.
In addition, Atwell said in that respect, Agent Carter does not trust Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) so she would be kind of lowering her standards if she ended up with him. Still, she added that maybe "it could blossom into a perfect romance."
Joining Atwell in the "Agent Carter" season 2 cast are Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis and Shea Whigham as Roger Dooler, among others.
During the interview, Atwell also confirmed that her appearance in "Ant-Man" as Peggy Carter is a cameo. Released on July 17, the sci-fi action stars Paul Rudd as the title role also known as Scott Lang.
Before "Agent Carter" and "Ant-Man," Atwell played Peggy Carter in the 2014 TV series "Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." and in the film "Avengers: Age Of Ultron," which was released on May 1.
Currently, Downey Jr. is filming "Captain America: Civil War." Before this 2016 film, he played Tony Stark/Iron Man in "The Avengers," "Avengers: Age Of Ultron," "Iron Man," "Iron Man 2" and "Iron Man 3."
"Captain America: Civil War" is being filmed in Atlanta, where Downey Jr. recently surprised employees of the food truck and take-out restaurant business The Blaxican, E! News has learned.
