Moto X Style VS iPhone 6 Plus

When Motorola announced the Moto X Style, to be marketed in the United States as Moto X Pure Edition, the device was immediately perceived as a competitor to the iPhone 6 Plus. The two devices have almost identical specs and both also capitalize on their respective strengths while downplaying the other one's weaknesses.

The first difference is the screen display size. Albeit unnoticeable at first glance, a closer look at each devices specs will show that the Moto X Style wins this category with a 5.7-inch display compared the iPhone 6 Plus' 5.5-inch. As for the display resolution, the flagship device from Motorola also takes the bag with 2560 x 1440 pixels at 520 ppi density, while the upcoming device from Apple has 1920 x 1080 resolution at 401 ppi pixel density.

The iPhone 6 Plus will have fingerprint support which is one of the fastest developing technology and present on almost every new device release. On the other hand, Motorola skips the fingerprint scanner. Additionally, the Moto X Style will not have Optical Image Stabilization while the iPhone 6 Plus will have.

For storage, the new Moto X will be available in three variants; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The upcoming iPhone will also be available in three storage variants; 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. The iPhone will surely win this aspect if not for the fact that Motorola added microSD support for its flagship device giving it expandable storage for a price. On top of that, Motorola is also throwing in 3GB of RAM for the new Moto X while the Apple flagship will only sport 1GB.

On the processor side, looking at the Apple A8 processor's specs list one will conclude that it's a mid-range chip. However, the A8 delivers massive processing power and when paired with iOS delivers top of the line performance. According to Fortune, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset on the Moto X Style is also one of the best mobile system-on-chip currently available in the market. It is safe to say that both processors will handle all processing power required by the two devices.

Perhaps the most glaring difference between the two devices is on the pricing. The Moto X Style will fetch a retail price of $399 in the US for its unlocked version, according to Wired. The Apple iPhone 6 Plus will fetch a price tag of $749.

The Moto X Style will be released on Sept. 15, while the iPhone 6 Plus is scheduled to be released on Sept. 14.
