LeBron James Joins Team USA? Will Play at Rio Olympics 2016?

| Aug 06, 2015 06:20 AM EDT

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James stars in the latest training guide released for the virtual reality platform called "Striving for Greatness."

LeBron James will be joining Team USA next week for a round of shootouts and drills in preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Does this mean LBJ will be chasing his third Olympic Gold next year?

Cleveland.com revealed that James will be flying to Las Vegas for the Team USA mini camp next week. He will be joining a team of 30 or more NBA stars for a week of meetings and shootarounds as the team gets ready for the global sports event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next year.

The camp aims to gauge the players interest in joining Team USA and their commitment to the entire process.

Team USA executive director Jerry Colangelo has expressed his desire for LBJ to join the camp, and ultimately the Olympic team. The exec revealed that he "expects" the four-time MVP to join the Las Vegas drills.

"He's been involved with Team USA basketball since he was 19. This is totally up to him - he has to make the call whether he wants to go after three Gold medals," Colangelo told Cleveland.com in another report.

"I don't know that right now, and I need to find out at some point. An indicator will come next week when we see who shows up." And that indicator has already been confirmed, although LeBron's official decision to join Team USA or not may come later in the year.

While his attendance has already been confirmed, Cleveland.com revealed however that James will be leaving the camp early due to previous commitments with his LeBron James Family Foundation.

James will be joining other NBA stars next week, including Paul George and Cavaliers teammate, Kyrie Irving.
