2016 Chevrolet Camaro Update: Release Date, Pre-Selling Begins August, Features Lighter Model, Electric Convertible Top

The GM's 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is expected to be available for pre-order this month. It was previously reported that General Motors will start selling the latest Chevrolet Camaro Convertible later this year.

Carmakers usually upgrade to a newer model and keep the similar internal features, but GM makes it different. The Chevy's sixth-generation looks more leaner and sporty compare to 2015 Chevrolet Camaro model.

The 2016 model was modified to be lighter without compromising its quality. Parts like the steel instrumental panel frame were replaced by light-weight aluminum. This makes the new model stiffer and 200 pounds lighter than the previous model.

According to Car and Driver, the new Chevrolet Camaro can now flipped its lid. Chevy's 2016 convertible feature highlights the fully electric convertible top that works with a single push even the car is moving of up to 30mph. This top cover dramatically disappears and still maintains the body's sculpted lines. It is fully automatic which can also be opened with a key fob.

Internal features highlights sophisticated standard on all 2016 models. Steering wheel was flat-designed on its bottom. It also has kneepads and high-performance seats making its driver feel superior comfort, Chevrolet revealed.

New technology is also embedded inside such as the Driver Mode Selector. This makes the driving easier by tailoring the driving mode into multiple drive settings to anticipate any road situations. There is a configurable instrument cluster and a customizable ambient lighting feature.

GM's very first Chevrolet Camaro was introduced in 1967. It was also considered as the oldest automobile brand that is still selling its flagship. Rumors claim that pre-order starts on Aug. 13.
