When Channing Frye left, the Phoenix Suns fans had a lot of question marks? He seemed like a good fit.
With the Phoenix Suns' roster, he is still a good fit. He is one of the better big-man shooters, a true stretch forward and the Suns can now cover his defensive weaknesses with Tyson Chandler around.
The Markieff Morris situation opened up trade scenarios for the Suns and in one hypothetical transaction, Morris would be shipped to Orlando for Channing Frye.
From Phoenix blog Valley of the Suns, the fans had a "worst case scenario" mapped out, in case the Markieff Morris situation does get out of hand.
Of course, there's still the issue that the situation is overblown, like in this post from Bright Side of the Sun which cast doubt on the allegation that Morris wanted "nothing to do" with the Suns.
John Gambodoro was the one who broke the news via Twitter. He is a local radio sportscaster in Phoenix and "is noted for having strong ties within the Suns' organization, but at the same time he isn't exactly Woj," as BSOTS clarifies. "It is a bit curious that he would be the one to break this news, considering that he has had public spats with both brothers."
Still, VOTS has the trade scenarios and it should be taken with a grain of salt. For one thing, Markieff's trade value is plummeting. Public spats are locker room cancer, and unless it's a franchise center like DeMarcus Cousins, these trades are not worth the risk, at least for the time being.
A trade that would intrigue the Suns and maybe the opposite side (Orlando, in this case) is a swap sending back Channing Frye to the Suns. VOTS points out, "Phoenix welcomes a local hometown hero back as the offensive floor spacer this team has badly missed since he accepted a four-year, $32 million deal with the Orlando Magic last summer."
Channing Frye is on a bloated contract, so the Magic actually have a desire to move him. The situation makes it difficult and the Suns would probably be one of the few takers for their own reasons. The only thing is to show the Magic that Markieff can still play despite the issues.
