Mayweather-Rousey Dissidents Just Want To See Money May Lose

Ronda Rousey

Is a Ronda Rousey - Floyd Mayweather Jr. bout possible? It's never going to happen, so don't bet on it.

There are two types of Ronda Rousey fans: those who believe the hype, and those who don't.

Fans of "Rowdy" believe in her unparalleled ability to grapple her opponents while admiring her much improved striking skills, whereas detractors point to a lack of quality competition.

After Rousey (MMA: 12-0) easily dispatched challenger Bethe Correia in 34 seconds to retain her UFC women's bantamweight world title a couple of weeks ago, the call for her to face boxing's pound-for-pound kingpin Mayweather (Boxing: 48-0, 26 KO's) in some sort of sanctioned 'match' grew louder.

It's understandable, and only in the sense that the internet is a mean and nasty place.

Yes, Rousey is a freakishly strong 135-pound human being and would quite easily physically overwhelm 99% of human beings, regardless whether male or female, in an actual fight. Her skills are virtually unmatched in her division and there seems to be no stopping her.

Only one of Rousey's opponents has made it past the first round with her three most recent fights lasting a combined 64 seconds. She is arguably the most dominant athlete in sports, with absolutely no equal.

Mayweather, on the other hand, is the richest athlete in all of sports, raking in upwards of US$300-million of total revenue in his last fight -- the most anyone has ever made off a single boxing match.

He's also unbeaten with 48 wins and easily handled Manny Pacquiao, who many consider to be his sternest test, just a few months ago.

But talk of the two fighting each other, let alone the gut-wrenching thought of a man physically harming a woman, is just plain disgusting.

Humanity has evolved so much in the past century to bring men and women closer to equality, but this type of talk just sets us way back.

Naturally though, curious but ignorant yet fight hungry fans wondered what it would be like if the most dominant women's mixed martial artist and the world's best boxer ever got into it.

The clamor for this hypothetical matchup has brewed for the past year and has slowly gained traction each time the two stepped into the limelight. Talk has gotten so crazy that this type of news can be found virtually everywhere.

It also doesn't help that Rousey has publicly stated she would beat Mayweather in a fight. Rousey claims she would beat Mayweather in MMA.

"Floyd is one of the best boxers of all time. He would definitely beat me in a boxing match," Rousey stated in a recent Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session.

"I unfortunately don't get into 'matches.' I fight for a living. In a no rules fight, I believe I can beat anyone on this planet."

UFC interim featherweight champ Connor McGregor also feels Rousey would manhandle Mayweather quite fluidly.

"Ronda would dismantle [Mayweather] in seconds -- 100%," said McGregor. "She would throw Floyd on his head in a second."

Any self-respecting individual would not take talks about a Mayweather-Rousey bout seriously. This type of thing hits human beings at the core.

Would you really want to see a man punch a woman? I thought so.

Yet there are some out there who seem to think it's okay for the two to tango. Fortunately, most people actually use their brains and know this fight will NEVER come to fruition.

The majority of dissidents who feel the two should fight just want to see Mayweather lose in any form, whether it be in a boxing match or in MMA.

Newsflash: It's not gonna happen.

In a boxing match, Mayweather boxes Rousey's ears off while in MMA, Rousey rips Mayweather's arm from its socket.

Let's just leave it at that and forget about the whole thing, for humanity's sake.
