Through the Tianjin Tragedy: Chinese Mourn for Victims, Rescuers Assist the Affected, Officials Bow Before Dead

A warehouse in the port city of Tianjin said to be containing reactive chemicals exploded on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Two explosions were heard and captured on video, and afterward, the site surrounding the establishment became a terrifying image of broken windows, sooted cars and destroyed houses.

The Chinese government had been prompt in sending rescuers and investigators to the site. As of Sunday, Aug. 16, 112 bodies have been found, 95 people remained missing, including 85 firefighters.
