800,000 Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Units Sold In 12 Hours, Device Available For $169 For Worldwide Purchasers With No Shipping Charges

Xiaomi's Redmi smartphone used an independent design house instead of a contract manufacturer to make the stylish device even more appealing.

According to reports, the mobile manufacturer Xiaomi sold 800,000 units of Redmi Note 2 in just 12 hours. Last week, Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 2 in China. The phablet, which will again be sold on August 24, will also be launched in India.

It is important to note that this is a new record of sales of smartphones for Xiaomi. The Chinese company has made its presence in the Guinness book of World records earlier for selling 2.11 million smartphones in one day.

The Redmi Note 2 comes with 2GB of RAM, an octacore MediaTek Helio X10 processor and a 5.5-inch full-HD display with a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. The phablet has a microSD card slot and comes in two storage variants - 32GB and 16GB.

Furthermore, the device has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with phase detection autofocus and a 5MP front-facing camera with Omnivision.

The Redmi Note 2 runs the Xiaomi's latest MIUI 7 which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The phablet measures 152mm x 76mm x 8.25mm and weighs160 grams. It is expected that the device will have IR blaster, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and dual SIM support. The 16GB version of the device is sold for $125, according to iDigitalTimes.

At present, Gear Best, a Chinese retailer, is selling the phablet for purchasers all over the world. The retailer is offering the Redmi Note 2 with 16 GB storage with a price of $168.85. The pre-sale period will end on September 16. Gear Best is selling the device in white and black for worldwide consumers along with no shipping charges.
