Android M

The Google Nexus 5 2015 will come packed with Android Marshmallow operating system. The new operating system brings fingerprint support, improved power management, custom Chrome Tabs and new app permissions. Users can use their fingerprint to make Play Store purchases, unlock their handset or authorize an Android Pay transaction. In addition, the latest operating system will support USB Type-C for charging.

Chrome Custom tabs will allow users to include webviews within a specific app, without the requirement to switch to the Chrome browser on their smartphone.

Android Pay

The 2015 Nexus 5 will come equipped with Android Pay. This feature will enable users to make their payments using near-field communication (NFC). Users require to unlock their smartphones, keep them near an NFC terminal and their payment is done, without opening any app.

Android Pay will be pre-installed on T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T devices and will be accepted in 700,000 stores in the United States which accept contact-less payment.

Enhanced Battery Life

The Android Marshmallow increases the battery life of Nexus 5 by more than 500 hours, Phone Arena reported. The finding is based on a test carried out by ComputerBase.de (German blog site) which demonstrated that a Nexus 5 running on Android Marshmallow will see standby battery time increase of 533 hours.

Two-Year Android Update Guarantee

According to Android Police, the search giant Google will offer two-year guarantee for Android operating system updates. This means that Nexus handsets will get major system updates for two years from the release date of OS version. Furthermore, Nexus handsets will get security patches for 18 months from the purchase date in the Google Play Store.
