According to reports, only selected Xperia mobile devices will get the Android Marshmallow update. Users who have an Xperia Z device will be eager to know when they will receive the software upgrade. Given below is the Android Marshmallow release news for Sony Xperia Z devices.
The Japanese tech company Sony has posted on its website the devices that will run on the Android M. However, it is important to note that the forthcoming operating system for Xperia mobile handsets is not situated within the same API levels as the Nexuses.
The API levels are at Lollipop MR1, therefore, users can view the Android Marshmallow Developer Preview from a platform perspective, according to Sony Mobile's Developer World website.
The Xperia Z handsets included in the company's technical preview for Android Marshmallow are Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z4 Tablet / Wi-Fi and Xperia Z3 Plus.
Devices such as the Xperia Z3 Plus and Xperia Z4 were included on the listed of eligible smartphones that will receive the Android Marshmallow update because OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers) offer software support for their devices for 18 months, so these smartphones will reach their life cycle end in March 2016.
The Xperia Z2 devices will get this final software upgrade because their life cycle will end by this year's end. Furthermore, since the Xperia Z2 smartphone came in April last year, the device is at the limit, as it will end its life cycle in October of this year, but most probably, Android Marshmallow will arrive sooner.
For the Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 devices, the Japanese company will extend software support to Android 5.1, even if the models already reached their life cycle end.
