The ISIS militant known as Jihadi John has been unmasked.

The 27-year-old British programmer Mohammad Emwazi just confirmed through a one-minute, 17-second video that he is the dreaded Jihadi John who has beheaded hostages of the Islamic State (IS).

Contrary to previous reports that he is hiding in Libya for fear of his life, the notorious beheader removed his black hood for the first time in Syria. He threatened to go back to UK and to kill non-Muslims, reports The Independent.

The video is believed to have been shot in June in Syria. A day after it was posted on YouTube by Daily Mail, the video has become viral with almost 165,000 hits.

He said, "I will soon go back to Britain with the Khalifa [the leader of ISIS] ... We will kill the kuffar," which refers to non-followers of the Islam faith.

Daily Mail got the video from a rebel fighter of the Free Syrian Army which is battling the terrorist organization. Emwazi is seen standing in front of a flat-bed truck that has a grenade launcher. He stared at the camera and then shifted his gaze at the desert, reports the New York Post.

Jihadi John and Emwazi appear to be the same person, according to a facial mapping specialist, based on similarities with their morphological and proportional comparisons. He has beheaded two American, two British and two Japanese hostages, using a knife to cut their head.

Following the threat from Jihadi John, British Prime Minister David Cameron ordered British troops to speed up the capture or killing of Emwazi. The PM is reportedly furious over the failure of M16 officials to track the decapitator who was born and raised in London.
