Following a long hiatus, stage singer Celine Dion, who has been caring for her husband stricken with throat cancer, returned to her residency in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace.
The "My Heart Will Go On" singer has returned to Caesars Palace for an extended performance which will begin from Aug. 27, according to the Daily Mail.
The singer has taken time off from performing as she cares for husband Rene Angelil, 73. However, during an interview with USA Today she said Angelil insisted she return to doing what she loves.
The singer said during the interview that she was initially apprehensive about returning to performing since her main priority has been to care for her husband.
The Canadian singer said she has spent the last year grieving over the inevitable and days have been spent with Angelil where his one request has been to be able to die in her arms, she has revealed.
It has been a difficult time for the songstress as she has faithfully taken down notes during conversations with her beloved over preparations for his final farewell.
The singer told the publication Angelil has been the "leader of the band all my life" and has been responsible for her successful career which includes the sale of more than 200 million albums worldwide.
The couple have been together for many years while Dion met Angelil at age 12. In 1994, he became her manager and the close relationship shared between the two led to marriage. The couple have three children. The eldest Rene-Charles, 14 and fraternal twins who are four.
