Rumors say that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release date is all set to happen on October 2015 but a new information from Asia also indicates that the Windows 10 2-in-1 tablet will come in two sizes - one of them a hulking 14-inch productivity slate.

DigiTimes of Taiwan is saying in a new report that Microsoft and its supply chain partners in Asia are readying the successor to the 13-inch Surface Pro 3. The report referred to the sequel as "next-generation Surface 2-in-1 devices."

The devices will unbox in two screen sizes, the report said, with the 13-inch likely bumped to 14-inch. A slightly smaller model is also in the works at 12-inch, DigiTimes said.

As for the specifications, DigiTimes only mentioned that the upcoming Surface tablets will boast of high-end components inside and out as orders placed by Microsoft are projected to give significant profits to component suppliers operating in the region.

One of the mentioned Surface Pro 4 specs in the past months is Intel's Skylake chips that likely will be sourced by Microsoft from the area. Samsung was also named as a possible supply chain player in the flash drive and memory chip requirements of the device.

The Pro 4 is touted to best display the mobile computing prowess of Windows 10 that debuted in late July. Apart from impressing users with its upscale hardware components, the tablet is seen to attract attention with features that highlight productivity on the go.

Continuum, for instance, will allow users to plug in the device on a larger monitor and it is instantly transformed into a desktop computer, including the might and speed. Ease of use is also easily achieved with compatible Surface Pro 4 accessories like wireless or docked keyboards and other input devices.

The Surface Pro 4 aims to become the ultimate laptop replacement but it will have to deal with upcoming competitors like the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The Apple tablet is said to unpack soon with multitasking features and native support for stylus - two capabilities already part of the Surface Pro 3 and to remain in enhanced form in the Pro 4.

When the iPad Pro is coming out remains unconfirmed though rumors say it will be by December 2015 or a few months following the October release date of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4.
