The filming for "Divergent: Allegiant - Part 1" has finished early this week. Fans of Shailene Woodley and Theo James are excited to see what happens next to their characters Tris and Four in the third installment of the franchise.

Although there are only three books in the series, the executive producers decided to split the last book into two films. As pointed out by Screen Rant, it seems like having two films to end a franchise had been the norm ever since "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

Other popular series "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games" have also followed its footsteps. When it was announced that the final book in "Divergent" will be split into two films, it did not come as a surprise given that the three films are all under the same studio, Lionsgate.

The publication also noted that having two films had been a smart decision for Lionsgate. According to Box Office Mojo, the second movie, "Divergent: Insurgent" has earned a whopping $295 million in the box office. The movie producers are reportedly expecting that the third and fourth movie will bring in even more.

It was, however, noted that some fans are upset when they found out that the "Allegiant" movie will split into two films. Both the first part of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" did not exactly live up to its hype. Some even claimed that the final entries of the franchise could have actually fint into just one "single, super-sized" film.

"Divergent: Allegiant Part 1" hits theatres on Mar.18, 2016.
