"The Amazing Spider-Man" star Andrew Garfield recently revealed the would-be plot of "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" if ever it pushed through.
According to IBTimes, the third installment was cancelled after Sony decided to pursue the superhero film in collaboration with Marvel.
In an interview with Uproxx, Garfield revealed that he already started doing workshops with writer Alex Kurtzman, who was supposed to pen the script for "The Amazing Spider-Man 3."
According to the actor, the initial plan was to start where "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" left off, especially in terms of Peter Parker's fate. The third intallment was supposed to focus more on Peter and Gwen Stacy's (Emma Stone) love affair as well.
"So, yeah, we got to some pretty heavy places and I was really excited to kind of explore it and be involved on the ground level like that," he said.
Meanwhile, the publication also asked Garfield to divulge details as to why exactly Sony decide to cancel "The Amazing Spider-Man 3." In the past, there were rumors that the actor had a misunderstanding with one Sony executive.
However, Garfield said that he does not want to talk about the reason why "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" was cancelled. The actor said though that he will be supporting the upcoming franchise that will be headlined by actor Tom Holland.
Holland will play the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming movie "Spider-Man" reboot. Marvel fans will get to see the character first in the upcoming movie "Captain America: Civil War."
"Spider-Man" reboot is slated for release in the United States sometime in 2017.
