James Harden-Khloe Kardashian Update: Rockets Star's Birthday Fireworks May Result In Lawsuit For GF

Khloe Kardashian arrives at the 42nd American Music Awards in Los Angeles, California November 23, 2014.

Houston Rockets star James Harden may have just put his girlfriend in a lot of trouble. Reality TV personality Khloe Kardashian threw a lavish yacht party for Harden last Tuesday, and the accompanying fireworks display may have her facing a lawsuit.

Harden turned 26 on Wednesday, August 26. His girlfriend gathered a bunch of close friends and her family members for a big celebration on Tuesday night. The party took place aboard the Fantasea Yacht, which was anchored off the coast of Marina del Rey in Los Angeles. At the stroke of midnight, a massive fireworks display was set off to mark Harden's actual birthday.

According to TMZ, Kardashian may be facing a lawsuit due to the noise that they created that evening. A group of 12 residents who live close to the beach have reportedly gathered together to file a lawsuit claiming damages from the disruptive display.

The report states that the suit is being filed against Khloe Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner. Birthday boy Harden has so far not been held responsible. Each of the complainants will reportedly be asking for $7,500 in damages due to emotional distress.

The fireworks display lasted for about 15 minutes and an ABC 7 News report the following day claims that a local Los Angeles councilman was not pleased with the noise.

ABC7 reporter and Los Angeles resident Elex Michaelson tweeted about the incident and stated that many residents as well as their pet dogs were woken up in the middle of the night.

Despite the complaints and earlier accusations that the fireworks show was illegal, Kardashian has spoken up to defend herself. She told Entertainment Tonight that she had gotten all the necessary paperwork and permits to get the show going. She said that the company who handled the show would not have been able to risk launching any fireworks if the proper permits were not present. TMZ has also learned that Kardashian did secure a U.S. Coast Guard clearance and the Los Angeles city council had no jurisdiction to issue permits for the show which took place over a hundred feet off shore.
