Johnny Depp’s Dog Killing Joke: ‘Black Mass’ Star Supports China’s Yulin Dog Meat Festival?

Johnny Depp reprises his role Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”

"Black Mass" star Johnny Depp joked about killing and eating his dogs during a recent press conference at the Venice Film Festival. He and his wife Amber Heard were previously accused of violating quarantine regulations while filming "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" in Australia.

"I killed my dogs and ate them under direct orders from some kinda, I dunno, sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia," The Daily Beast quoted Depp as jokingly saying during the press conference for his gangster drama at the Venice Film Festival.

Depp was referring to Australia's Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce who threatened to imprison the "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" actor if he ever returns after he and Heard were accused of smuggling their two Yorkshire terriers via private jet into the country.

In the 2017 film "Pirates of the Caribbean 5," Depp is reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. In "Black Mass," he plays Irish-American convicted murderer Whitey Bulger. During the Venice Film Festival press conference for "Black Mass," he said it was very important for him to look as much like Bulger as humanly possible.

Apparently, Depp does not really support killing and eating dogs, as practiced at the annual Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China, which was recently condemned by animal activists all over the world.

In June, dogs were rescued from the Yulin Dog Meat Festival and were sent to the rescue center called Sanduo Life Guarding Garden for caretaking. Unfortunately, the rescued dogs die on a daily basis due to sickness, Chinese publication People's Daily Online reported.
