Google will reportedly unload two vanilla smartphones soon - the sub-flagship LG Nexus 5 2015 and the premium Huawei Nexus 6 2015. To compete and possibly to overwhelm what Google has to offer, Sony will soon release the Snapdragon 810-powered Xperia Z5 in three flagship flavors - the Premium, the Regular and the Compact.

Judging from the details revealed so far, what Sony will unleash in the trio Xperia 2015 thrust can potentially defeat their pure Android rivals. The Xperia Z5 Premium with up to 3GB of RAM, for instance, will have the distinction of being the first smartphone with 4K display resolution or 3840 x 2160 screen pixels to be exact, thus living up to its premium label.

The same model, according to The Verge, will have a 5.5-inch screen profile, presenting itself as the sweet spot between the rumored 5.2-inch screen of the 2015 LG Nexus 5 and the 5.8-inch Huawei Nexus. It should be noted too that the Xperia Z5 Premium is of the same size of Apple's phablet iPhone 6 Plus as well as its supposed successor - the iPhone 6S Plus.

Sony has also decided to cater to users who prefer the not-so-large devices in the 5.2-inch Z5 Regular that will flash a 1080p display panel, also with 3GB of RAM. This kit matches that of the new LG Nexus 5 and stretches a bit from the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 (and its sequel, the iPhone 6S).

Yet for those wanting to wield a phone that slips in an out of the pocket with ease, Sony's answer is the 4.6-inch Z5 Compact that will boast of a 720p HD screen. The device is designed to lure in buyers who crave for flagship specifications in a smartphone minus the bulky build. The Z5 Compact with 2GB of RAM remains premium in every respect and only the frame is considerably scaled down.

But what really is considered as the Xperia Z5 killer features are the functionalities that both the Nexus 2015 and iPhone 6S will not carry.

Sony is deploying a 23-megapixel main shooter that likely will be the best in the field, a right side-located fingerprint reader for easier access and the company's trademark water-proofing and dust protection. All three, according to The Verge, will be out of the box with the Z5 Premium, Regular and Compact.

Rumors say the Sony Xperia Z5 release date is on October 2015 with the initial rollout involving the Regular and Compact variants as the Premium edition is not expected until the following month or November.
