FIBA Americas Championship 2015: Argentina vs Dominican Republic, Preview, Prediction & Predicted Lineup

Argentina continues its quest for the 2015 FIBA Americas Championship gold medal in a September 8 game against a hard-fighting Dominican Republic five at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.

Sergio Hernandez's men had just overcome a tough challenge by Uruguay, 90-87, to kick off the second round of competitions on Sunday. They will face Panama on Monday before this match against the Dominicans on Tuesday.

NBA veteran forward Luis Scola led all scorers again with 26 points and hauled down 13 down rebounds in the tightly-contested game. Starting point guard Facundo Campazzo helped him with 15 points and eight assists while small forward Andrés Nocioni came off the bench to contribute 22 points and eight rebounds, as per FIBA Live Stats.

Uruguay was paced by Mathias Calfani, Mauricio Aguiar, and Bruno Fitipaldo with 20, 17, and 15 markers respectively.

Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic fell against surprise team Venezuela, 72-68, in another close match on Sunday.

Team leader and Houston Rocket Francisco Garcia was held scoreless in 30 minutes of playing time, as he went 0-of-4 from the field, including 0-3 from three-point distance.

Starting playmaker Édgar Sosa led the team with 21 points and 5 assists with shooting guard James Feldeine and center Eloy Vargas chipping in 13 and 11 points each, via the tourney's official website.

The Argentinians has yet to lose in five games so far in the tournament while head coach Adrián Capelli's wards are 2-3 overall.

A win by Argentina will solidify their place in the final round which starts on Friday, September 11.
