Electronic dance music enthusiasts will be hearing and seeing more of actor-turned-DJ Ansel Elgort in the coming years, now that he has signed a deal with Island Records.
Elgort is known to fans all over the world as an actor who has played key roles in movies that include "The Fault In Our Stars" and the "Divergent" series. In the EDM circuit, he goes by the name Ansolo.
Not that many people know that Elgort loves working on music on his computer during downtime. He has long been a fan of popular EDM artists like Skrillex and Avicii, and has listened to some of their early works.
Four years after learning how to produce tracks, Ansolo has done lots of opening shows. He played in Electric Zoo, and had a gig at Pacha after turning 21 last March, Rolling Stone reported. Ansolo's new single, "To Life" will soon be released.
The actor-DJ has released remixes and come out with his debut single, yet is aware about the hurdles he will face as he continues to map out a career as a DJ. The least he wants is to get slots because of his acting credentials. He says he is bound to "battle with credibility" and is well aware that he may not be taken seriously as musician yet, Billboard reported.
The "Insurgent" actor is up to the challenge, though. To date, he was given creative leeway to produce the music he loves, which is groovy house mix. Elgort is part of the new wave of actors in Hollywood who are not merely coasting off their string of blockbuster movies.
