Android Marshmallow Update for Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition

Motorola Droid Maxx 2 was launched in October 2016 with a 21 MP primary camera and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

Google is expected to release the Android Marshmallow upgrade for Motorola's Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition soon.

Motorola will tweak this upgrade according to its own standards. Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition are expected to be equipped with the new operating system Android Marshmallow before the end of this year, according to Android Pit. 

Since Android Marshmallow will be released as an over-the-air upgrade, different devices will receive it at different times. The size of the upgrade is expected to be more than 500 MB, as it is a major upgrade. To check for this upgrade, go to Select Settings > Choose About device > Check for Software Update.

The upgrade will also be prompted automatically on the drop down menu also as and when it comes to the devices. The changes which are expected to come with Android Marshmallow are as follows, according to BGR:

  • The option for emergency calls will automatically appear in case the device anticipates some trouble. It will also come with the nearest contact center and the current location of the device.
  • The new API level 23 will be introduced in the device to support the finger print scanner
  • It will also equip the device with better error reporting.
  • The enumeration support is expected to be enhanced.
  • The home screen will now become rotatable.
  • It will also increase the battery life of the smartphone by optimizing usage.
  • The Android Marshmallow update will also enhance the user experience of the device by manifold.
