Dallas Mavericks Trade for Taj Gibson, Kirk Hinrich? Bulls Logjam At Frontline To Improve Texas’ Weakest Team

The Dallas Mavericks' seem to be left behind by their State rivals so they need to make some moves.

The San Antonio Spurs were one of the big winners in the offseason and the Houston Rockets also addressed their need for a point guard with Ty Lawson.

In contrast, the Dallas Mavericks let Tyson Chandler (and Monta Ellis) walk for the sake of nabbing DeAndre Jordan who infamously bailed on them at the 11th hour.

This is a situation that Mark Cuban will not take sitting down. It is expected that Cuban will make moves in the season, the only question is what moves will he make.

The Chicago Bulls present two possible prospects as discussed in Dallas blog The Smoking Cuban.

The trade proposal has Taj Gibson and Kirk Hinrich going to Dallas in exchange for Devin Harris, Raymond Felton and Dwight Powell.

The rationale for the trade from the Bulls side, aside from the fact that Gasol, Mirotic and Noah are there,"Gibson is due roughly 18 million over the next two years and will likely split minutes with an emerging Mirotic and newcomer Bobby Portis. Why not save some money in cap and continue to let your young players develop?"

They would also get two point guards in exchange for Hinrich-insurance in case of a Rose injury (knock on wood). Harris can also play alongside Rose in the Bulls' faster offense. They can also waive Felton if they feel that Aaron Brooks presence is enough.

For the Mavericks, losing Harris may be a pinch, but Gibson is worth it. "No matter who started, Gibson would be an ideal combination with Dirk in that he plays defense and rebounds well; while still possessing an offensive game."

Hinrich would take on back-up point guard duties behind Deron Williams and ahead of JJ Barea and they would open up a roster spot for a playmaker,
