Toshiba has recently announced a new entry-level, low-cost tablet and laptop computer hybrid that runs on a Microsoft Windows 10 platform. The Satellite Click 10 is a lightweight 2-in-1 device that features an Intel Atom x5 processor, high-definition (HD) display, and affordable $350 price tag.

Toshiba's new laptop includes an energy-efficient 64-bit Intel Atom "Cherry Trail" x5 processor. It is a lightweight 2-in-1 mini computer like the Microsoft Surface 3, but costs about $150 less.

The CPU has 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM. Consumers can select onboard storage of either 32GB or 64GB.

Click 10 also features a 10-inch multitouch screen. The display's resolution is 1900 pixels x 1200 pixels.

The Toshiba device also includes two cameras. There is an 8 megapixel (MP) rear-facing unit, and a 2MP front-facing gadget, according to PC World.

Click 10 also has a medley of other technical specs. They include a HD Multimedia Interface (HDMI), USB 2.0 slot, Dolby Digital Plus speakers, and TruTalk microphone.

The low-cost hybrid laptop has a 36-inch profile. It weighs 1.2 pounds (.5 kilograms) in tablet mode, and an extra pound (.45 kilograms) with the keyboard attached.

The Click 10 is just as innovative as high-end Windows 10-compatible devices, yet allows a portable way to use the Microsoft operating system without adding much weight to luggage. It is almost one-third smaller, and half as light as a standard laptop, according to PC Mag Asia.

The Satellite Click 10 can be pre-ordered now. It will be shipped out around Sep. 15

Toshiba started manufacturing its T1100 laptop in 1986. The company describes it as the world's first mass-marketed laptop CPU.
