Justin Timberlake has joined the voice cast of Mike Mitchell and Walt Dorhn's upcoming animated film "Trolls."

According to Deadline, Timberlake will be lending his voice on the character named Branch, a riotous unshakable survivalist who conceals his true colors. The singer-actor is set to join "Pitch Perfect" Anna Kendrick, who is giving her voice to the character named Poppy. There is no information on how Timberlake's and Kendrick's characters will affect each other.

The forthcoming "Trolls" film is based on Troll dolls, which have wild and colorful hair. Dreamworks Animation told Deadline that the film tells an origin story, showing how the Trolls got their standing and colorful hair. One of the biggest toy fads in the 1960s, the Trolls were created by Danish woodcutter Thomas Dam in 1959 for his daughter, as per Variety.

Aside from being a musician, Timberlake is also known for his acting roles Brad Furman's crime thriller "Runner Runner," Ethan Coen and Joel Coen's musical drama "Inside Llewyn Davis," Will Gluck's "friends with Benefits," and David Fincher's "The Social Network," among others.

On the other hand, Kendrick is known for her roles in Elizabeth Bank's musical comedy "Pitch Perfect 2," Joe Swanberg's drama film "Digging for Fire," and Rob Marshall's musical fantasy "Into the Woods." Aside from "Trolls," she is set to appear in Gavin O'Connor's drama film "The Accountant" and Kay Cannon's "Pitch Perfect 3," among others.

Mitchell and Dorhn are set to helm the film. Mitchell is known for directing the romantic comedy film "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo," adventure comedy film "Sky High," and animated comedy film "Shrek Forever After." Meanwhile, Dorhn is known for his work on Andrew Adamson's "Shrek 2," Chris Miller and Raman Hui's "Shrek the Third," and Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath's "Madagascar."

Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Beger are on board to pen the film. Aside from their  work "Kung Fu Panda," "Kung Fu Panda 2," and "Kung Fu Panda 3," the writers are  also known for writing the screenplay of Rob Letterman and Conrad Vernon's action adventure "Monsters vs. Aliens" and Paul Tibbit's comedy animated film "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water."

Holly Edwards, Dannie Festa, and Gina Shay are set to co-produce the film. Since "Trolls" is in its early phase of development, exact details on the plot, the characters, and additional members of the voice cast are yet to be revealed.

Mitchell and Dorhn's "Trolls" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on Nov. 4, 2016.
