Toyota will temporarily supply hydrogen stations in California.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently picked two Toyota cars for its annual Top Safety Pick+ award. The two cars, 2016 Lexus ES and Scion iA, are products manufactured and sold under the ownership of Toyota.

The 2016 Lexus ES, including the hybrid ES 300h and ES 350, was modified and upgrade in order to provide additional protection especially in small overlap front crashes. Modification and upgrades were made on the cars A-pillar, front structure, door hinge pillar, roof rail and door sill.

According to Consumer Affairs, the Lexus ES earned a good rating in the small overlap test. Based on the verdict, the driver space on the Lexus ES was maintained very well with maximum intrusion of four inches from the parking brake pedal.

Additionally, during the crash test, the dummy's movement was controlled and the car's side and front cushion worked well in order to protect the dummy's head. Based on the crash test, the dummy only sustained injuries in the right lower leg.

The car's optional front crash prevention system also received a superior rating. The Lexus ES was able to avoid a collision during a track test running at 12Mph and 25Mph.

The 2016 Scion iA, just like the ES, also earned a good rating on the small overlap test. Just like the ES, the driver space on the iA was maintained very well with maximum intrusion of two inches from the parking brake pedal. The iA's airbags also worked well in order to protect the dummy's head and movement. The test also reveal that the dummy shows low risk of injuries.

The car's low-speed front crash prevention earned an advance rating. The iA was able to avoid a collision the track test at 12Mph.
