Sheik Involved In Beverly Hills Drag Race Left US, Authorities Claim

A video of a yellow-colored Ferrari racing on a suburban street recently went viral. The Ferrari was reportedly owned by Sheik Khalid bin Hamad Al-Thani. Reports also claim that the sheikh has already left the United States.

According to the BBC, police are planning to charge the sheik with reckless driving and other offenses. However, the whereabouts of the sheik along with his cars is currently unknown.

The race took place in Beverly Hills. According to Hollywood Reporter, Beverly Hills Police Department Sgt. Max Subin said that the sheik has already left the country. Subin added that the State Department confirmed that the sheik does not have any kind of diplomatic immunity.

Subin said that since news break out, several other individuals came forward to share a video of the incident. On the other hand, Subin said that none of the videos show Al-Thani behind the wheel.

Sheik Khalid bin Hamad Al-Thani is a member of the Al-Thani family that currently rules the Middle Eastern nation of Qatar. Al-Thani is also known by the nickname "patron sheik" in the drag race community.

The video that went viral shows a reckless and potentially dangerous drag race between a yellow Ferrari LaFerrari supercar and a Porsche 911 GT3. At one point on the video, the cars disregarded a stop sign and nearly hit another car. The video ends showing the Ferrari's engine smoking as it pulls into the driveway in one of the affluent section of Beverly Hills.

Authorities from Beverly Hills police department said that they looking to prosecute those who are involved in the drag race. The Qatari consulate has been contacted already.
