Nextbit Robin Offers $50 Limited Time Discount

Nextbit Robin is a cloud focused smartphone.

Nextbit recently announced that it will release its upcoming cloud-first Robin smartphone for a limited-time discount. The company will offer a Verizon-only model and will slash $50 off its price tag.

According to PC Mag, the flash sale will start at 1PM eastern time. The catch is only that the first 300 United Stated residents will be able to avail of the discount. Eligible buyers will be able to get the handset for only $299. Once the promo ends, the device will return to its regular price of $349.

The Nextbit Robin is the first of its kind to offer cloud-first storage scheme. The device has 32GB of native storage space and 100GB cloud storage space. The phone unloads unnecessary contents to the cloud while storing frequently used files on the native storage.

In order to save battery and data bandwidth, the Robin will only upload data to the cloud when the phone is charging or connected to a Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, this can be manually turn on at the users discretion.

The Nextbit Robin project is funded by a Kickstarter campaign. The project currently has $1 million pledge, double of its original target. The Robin still has 12 days remaining on its Kickstarter campaign.

According to Android Central, the Nextbin Robin will sport a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a 1080x1920 resolution. At its heart is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset. It has 3GB of RAM and a fingerprint sensor. It is LTE capable and has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. For its camera, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It has a 2680mAh battery pack.
