Pizza Rat

The video of a rat carrying a slice of pizza while going down a New York City subway stairs has gone viral with more than 450,000 hits in nine hours.

Posted by Matt Little, who even whispers "Live your best life," the 14-second video has made the headlines of several news sites, reports Entertainment Weekly. The sound of someone apparently approaching sends the rat scampering, leaving the pizza slice on the steps.

Among the publications that reported the viral video are USA Today, New York Magazine and Mashable that says the rat teaches readers what it means to have a dream, which describes life in the Big Apple

Entertainment Weekly finds the combination disgusting, pointing out that "rats are small, plentiful, and carry a blood lust," while "Pizza is warm, gooey and comes in a variety of flavors." The two must be separate and the only instances acceptable to it are the Ninja Turtles and a scene in "Ratatouille."

Huffington Post agrees that Pizza Rat is the perfect metaphor for New York life. "He is hungry, he loves dollar pizza, he hates his life ad he is trying to carry something that is way too heavy down the subway stairs because the elevator is broken."

However, the perfect image is shattered because of the rodent's failure to bring home the pizza.

On the comments section of YouTube, the video elicited a lot of comments.

Cliff Trainor admits the rat inspires him, while Marc McDonald wonders from what brand is the pizza.

Pedro M says the rodent is "the hero we deserve, but not what we need." Ryan Derry says he found his spirit animal.

Seth Mitchell points out that Pizza Rat had just his 15 seconds of fame, noting that a similar video of another rat carrying a pizza on the train tracks also became viral, but that rodent hero is now forgotten.
