Shanshan Feng Scored 66, Get LPGA Title

Shanshan Feng, is China’s first player to become a member of the LPGA Tour, and winning last year’s LPGA Championship, and she also winning the Reignwood Classic just last month. Shanshan Feng got her third career tour crown, and won the $2 million after hitting a bogey-free six under par 66 last Sunday.

She started her day with a two strokes behind a trio of co-leaders, but Gerina Piller birdied the 15th and 17th holes, with a total of 15-under par 273. Piller took the top prize of $700,000 and making it her best LPGA finish. Piller said during the interview that she was excited about the tournament, grinning and giving herself the chance to force a playoff.

Feng got an early score with birdies on four of her first six holes, getting the lead with a score of 13-under par. She birdied the par-5 1st and 6th holes and scored a back to back birdie at the 3rd and 4th holes.

Sandra Gal from Germany finished fourth on 276, followed by Park In-Bee of South Korea in fifth on 277, and Yoo Sun-Young in sixth on 278 together with Cristie Kerr from America, and Stacy Lewis.

After four wins in the pro event as an amateur, Lydia Ko from New Zealand plays her first event as a professional and finished in 21st place.

The LPGA Rookie of the Year was awarded to Moriya Jutanugarn from Thailand, and beat Caroline Masson from Germany by 1 point in the rookie point race 480-479.

According to Feng, all the people in the last two groups were tough competitors, and she never thought she won even though she was only two behind. She also said that she sets a goal to finish 15-under par, and she was very happy at 15-under and finally won.

Piller shot a 69, but settled for second on 274, one stroke ahead of Thailand's Pornanong Phatlum, who finished with a final-round 70.
