La Liga 2015-2016: Villarreal vs Atletico Madrid, Preview, Prediction & Predicted Lineup

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann was the first to score a goal against Celta Vigo on Sunday.

Villarreal CF (4-0-1, 13 points) will look to hold on its share of the 2015-2016 La Liga lead as it battles one of the season's top contenders, Atletico Madrid (4-1-0, 12 points), in a high-profile matchup at Estadio El Madrigal on Saturday, September 26.

El Submarino Amarillo is coming off a tough 1-0 win over Malaga at La Rosaleda on Wednesday as they snatched the three points with an own goal by Los Boquerones midfielder Fernando Tissone late in the second half of the match, as per SkySports.

Villarreal surged into the league's top spot with Real Madrid and Celta Vigo all with 13 points in the overall standings, as the Celtics defeated erstwhile league leader Barcelona, 4-1, also on Wednesday.

Los Colchoneros are waiting their turn to take the lead as they try to take advantage of the recent lackluster performance of head coach Marcelino's squad.

Atleti is coming off an impressive 2-0 victory over Getafe on Tuesday at their home turf of Vicente Calderón Stadium as French forward Antoine Griezmann scored a double at the 4th and 90th minutes to lead his team, via Goalsaim.

Manager Diego Simeone is expected to fully unleash his strikers Griezmann and Fernando Torres in this match against the Yellow Submarines right after kick off while Villarreal will once more display their tough defense that only allowed four goals so far in the season.

The predicted result is a 2-1 escape for Atletico Madrid.
