China Mobile to Complete Nearly 1000 4G Networking Sites in Tibet

On Dec.8, 2013, China Mobile announced the plan to complete nearly 1000 4G networking sites in Tibet. It is reported that 967 networking sites will be completed in this highest and biggest network ever.

On Dec. 4, 2013, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially granted business licenses of TD-LTE/ 4th Generation of Digital Cellular Mobile Communications to three of China's mobile operators including China Mobile.

"The 41 networking sites which have been completed by now meet the requirements to operate," China Mobile's Tibet branch indicated that the network construction of mobile TD-LTE(4G) was launched in April, 2013. With all the networking sites completed in the future, major cities in Tibet will be well covered by 4G network.

TD-LTE(4G) is the 4th generation of Digital Cellular Mobile Communications technique dominated by China. With advantages of high speed, low delay and always-on-line, TD-LTE(4G) is currently one of the world's most advanced mainstream communication techniques.

It is reported that with the 4G business licenses, China Mobile will speed up the construction of 4G networking sites in Tibet, optimize price plans, accelerate the introduction of 4G terminals and promote the development and application of information products, to provide people in Tibet with fast, efficient and high-quality 4G information communication services.

According to Tibet Autonomous Region Communication Administration, the construction of modern communications infrastructure facilities in Tibet has been further accelerated since the 21st century. By the end of 2012, the number of mobile phone families in Tibet has exceeded 2,300,000. There are now 78 people in a hundred who have mobile phones in the area.
