Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson

The mind games continue with Phil Jackson as he teases a reunion with Kobe Bryant.

He's not called the Zen Master for nothing. Phil Jackson, with a cleverly veiled statement, may blow up the basketball world as we know it by teasing the possible transfer of Kobe Bryant.

A tweet from Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal citing an interview with Phil.

"Phil, on Kobe: "I don't think this is his last year. Might be his last year as a Laker."

A statement like this, coupled with Stephen A. Smith's statements that Carmelo Anthony is recruiting both Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant can actually blow up the rumor mill.

The NY Post eventually recounted the context of the statement aired by Jackson in the  Knicks Press Conference to open the season.

"I don't think it's his last year," said Jackson, the Post also noted that Jackson had a clever smile.  "It sounds like it may be his last year as a Laker, but I don't know the answer to that, either."

It also figures since the Zen Master has also said he's ready to take a bigger role with the team. Jackson deferred to his former on-court stalwart Derek Fisher so he could get a feel of his new designation as head coach.

"But both Jackson and Fisher said they are more comfortable with their respective roles this season, and to give each other input on what they're doing."

It may seem like the pieces are falling into the right place for a Lakers reunion on the opposite coast. Kobe recently buried the hatchet with Shaquille O' Neal and he even suggested that Bryant should not retire if he is still healthy.
