New information has been sighted for the PlayStation 4's accessory headset, the Project Morpheus, or more recently renamed as the PlayStation VR.
At the recent, EGX consumer show, Sony revealed some new findings related to its VR headset, the PlayStation VR. The company is very positive when it comes to the PS4's power and capability for managing virtual reality.
In fact, Sony claimed that the PS4 can manage very high framerates for images, putting it at around 120 frames per second, VR Focus reported. This is twice the framerate count of what is seen in most games today.
"So one thing we do for virtual reality is we want to make our games work really well there, so we have to drive them at a very, very high framerate," said SCE Europe Director of Worldwide Studios Immersive Technology Group Simon Benson to VR Focus.
For now, there are already a couple of titles that are tailored for the PlayStation VR and are supposedly set for 120FPS. However, other developing games are still in the 60FPS department, though Sony may be looking into a way to bring these games up to the 120FPS capability.
Also as part of the additional features coming to the PS4, there will now be a Twitch app for the PS4. This was revealed at the TwitchCon by company CEO Emmett Shear, Game Spot reported. The Twitch app will be debuting not only on the PS4 but also on the PS3, PS Vita and PlayStation TV later on after the fall launch.
On the PS4, the Twitch app will let users view livestreams from different platforms and enjoy the chat with all of its features. The Twitch feature is technically debuting on the PS4 a year after it arrived on the Xbox One.
