David Ayer's upcoming DC Comics film "Suicide Squad" could be one of DC's success.
According to Cinema Blend, Ayer's forthcoming film was getting the opportunity to soar high in DC's Cinematic Universe. After writer John Ostrander revived the Suicide Squad back in the 1980s, Ayer and his production team have brought the supervillain team to life from the pages of the comic books to the big screen.
Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is set to be the villains' first cinematic appearance, despite of having been seen in several shows, including "Justice League Unlimited," "Batman: Assault on Arkham," and "Arrow." It is assumed that Ayer's take on the film will be faithful to the comic books.
Meanwhile, Lex Luthor, who is played by Jesse Eisenberg, has been reported as a central character in both Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and David Ayer's forthcoming "Suicide Squad."
"Suicide Squad's" storyline is linked to the Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" film plot and this connection is through Luthor. In Oct. 24, 2014, it was reported that Eisenberg had some negotiations with Warner Bros. on reprising his villain role, as per Deadline. It has been rumored that the team was sent to stop Luthor's evil plans; however, this is yet to be confirmed.
The Suicide Squad is a secret team of supervillains that have been captured by the United States government. In exchange for general pardon, the team has to execute "high-risk" mission for the government. Small bombs were implanted within them, which can blowup should they attempt to escape or elicit trouble, hence the team's name "Suicide Squad."
"Suicide Squad" stars Viola Davis, Common, Joel Kinnaman, Scott Eastwood, Jay Hernandez, Adawale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jai Courtney, Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie, among others.
Ayer's "Suicide Squad" is set to premiere in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016 while Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits theaters in the United States on Mar. 25, 2016.
