Defending Serie A champions Juventus and Italian national team captain Gianluigi Buffon recently said that he is not ready to retire yet and would like to play in the Premier League soon before his career ends.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper had played all his 25 years of football in Italy, including his ongoing 15-year stint with Juve, and is reportedly keen on experiencing English competition during his twilight years, according to TalkSport.

Buffon already has an illustrious career by any standards, playing a total of 559 games in the Serie A so far and garnering six titles in the process.

"I would have loved to have played in the Premier League," the Carrara, Italy native said, as reported by The Independent. "I have spent 10 years at Parma, 15 at Juventus and I think I still have around two and a half years left at the top. There still may be an opportunity."

Even with his advanced age, Buffon is still considered as one of the best goal tenders in the world and is still the most valuable goalie on record as the Zebras bought him for €52 million back in 2001.

The Italian legend, who had the most caps in the nation's history at 150, had been linked with Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal before and he said that he still "might be tempted" if an opportunity arises even this late in his career.

"If at all, I would have liked to have tasted the Premier League, for its atmosphere and its tradition, but I've always been faithful to my clubs," he added.

Buffon also said that even if he indeed finishes his career in England, he would still go back to Turin for a new career, possibly with Juve's front office.
