‘Super Mario Maker’ Wii U Sales Updates: Another Nintendo Hit?

| Oct 02, 2015 07:15 AM EDT

"Super Mario Maker" has been a huge hit since its release in September.

"Super Mario Maker" is a hit after selling more than one million units. The game enables players to create their own Mario Levels and challenge opponents' stages.

Nintendo revealed the sales statistics of "Super Mario Maker" after just three weeks in the market, and they are very impressive, according to iDigital Times.

In a different report from the same publication, Nintendo's internal sales figures that include standalone, bundles, and digital copies indicate that more than one million units of "Super Mario Maker" were sold globally.

Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America President and COO, said, "For Mario fans around the world, including myself, Super Mario Maker was a dream 30 years in the making. The game has captured and unlocked the imaginations of gaming fans of all ages and brought their dedication to Nintendo to a whole new level."

Moreover, the company announced that there have been more than 2.2 million Mario Levels created since the launch, which have been played approximately 75 million times.

These figures are increasing, which is a good sign for Nintendo and its Wii U as the corporation has not seen this amount of unit pushing since Splatoon. However, with the mainstream appeal of Mario, "Super Mario Maker" was destined to hit from the aforementioned positive buzz and reviews that followed its release.

There will be patches and updates coming to "Super Mario Maker" and likely the DLC, which indicates that Nintendo are committed to support the current titles for a long period.
